3. THE COLOSSEUM (ITALY)

 With a capacity for 65,000 spectators, it hosted gladiator fights for 500 years and became the largest circus among all those built at that time (72 AD).

It has suffered significant damage from earthquakes and looting, but it maintains all its splendor as an iconic symbol of imperial Rome. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Rome and also has links to the Roman Catholic Church. Every Good Friday the Pope leads a Via Crucis procession through the Colosseum.

  1. This impressed me more than all since before it was used for fights, etc. and after years it became a tourist place and now it is also part of the Catholic Church.
